Intumescent paint is a specialist coating that expands when exposed to heat, creating an insulating char layer that protects steelwork from reaching critical temperatures. It is a proven, cost-effective alternative to fire-resistant boards or concrete encasement.

Steelwork is cleaned to SA 2.5 or manufacturer standards, primed where required and masked for protection.
Spray Application

Thickness and coverage are checked against the specification before sign-off and handover.

What is intumescent paint?
It is a fire-resistant coating that expands many times its original thickness when exposed to heat, creating an insulating barrier that protects structural steel from reaching critical failure temperatures.
How long does intumescent protection last?
When applied correctly and protected from physical damage or moisture, intumescent coatings can last the lifetime of the building. External steel may require a weatherproof topcoat.
Can you spray intumescent coating on-site?
Yes — we apply coatings on-site in operational warehouses, factories and construction sites. Our teams are PASMA and IPAF trained for safe access at height.
Do you provide certificates?
We work with third-party inspectors and coating manufacturers to provide documentation and coverage checks that align with the project fire protection specification.
